print NG has digital and offset services for printing BOOKS. We print locally in Toronto and have eco friendly options, including 100% recycled Canadian made paper and FSC certification.
Digital printing is more cost effective and best suited for short runs and fast turnaround. Typical digital quantities for books are 50 – 500 but we can print exactly what you need and will happily quote a few quantities for you. Digital inks are CMYK only and it’s a good idea to print a sheet of swatch colours if you’re trying to get a close match to Pantone or other colours. Paper is available in 60lb – 100lb text and 80lb – 130lb cover with silk, matte, gloss or uncoated finishes. Turnaround is 3-7 business days, depending on binding. We recommend checking a hard copy proof to ensure you’re happy with the paper and colour.
If you want to print larger quantities and use Pantone ink, foil stamping, embossing or special coatings, offset printing is the way to go. There’s also a wider range of paper choices – colours, textures and weights. Contact us in advance and we’ll show you samples and provide estimates for a few options. Offset printing takes longer, depending on binding and if you need foil or embossing. Allow at least six business days for production and add 2 or 3 days for foil, embossing or special bindery. It’s best to contact us to discuss timing for your offset book printing.
When choosing a size for your book, keep press sheet sizes in mind. Most digital press sheets on our favourite press are 13 x 19 so you can print a full bleed 12 x 18. We do have a back up if you want to print larger pages or more than 2 panels. Offset press sheets are up to 28 x 40 inches (depending on your paper brand) and can hold up to eight 8.5 x 11 pages. If you’re saddle stitching your brochure, ensure your page count is divisible by 4 or you’ll end up with blank pages at the back. Remember to include trim marks and bleed in your file.
Your book can be saddle stitched, Wiro, perfect or hard cover bound. Hard cover and perfect binding take a bit longer to produce.
